Romanian seaside hotels lower tariffs, reach 90% occupancy
Seaside hotels’ occupancy rate exceeded 90% on Friday, as most hotel owners have halved their tariffs after September 1.
The number of tourists increased by 10% compared to the same period last year, according to a survey by the LitoralulRomanesc.ro portal, cited by local News.ro.
Over 80% of the seaside hotels have reduced their tariffs by 35-50% compared to mid-August and were almost completely occupied on Friday. The hotels that have kept the same tariffs or have applied only small discounts recorded an occupancy rate of 80%. About 20% of the rooms remained empty in their case.
The number of tourists who go to the seaside at the end of the season has been increasing in the last years.
Hotel owners applied the largest discounts in the southern seaside resorts. The northern resort of Mamaia doesn’t need significant discounts due to its popularity. The destination is 100% booked until September 10.
