Romanian PM will present the country's economic situation to the Parliament next week

13 September 2016

The Parliament invited Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos to present the country’s economic situation next Monday.

The Joint Standing Bureaus of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies took the decision, at the request of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), reports local News.ro.

Ciolos will address the Parliament on Monday, September 19, starting 14:30, said Senate president Calin Popescu-Tariceanu. He will have 30 minutes to make a presentation at the beginning of the plenary session. MPs will also have interventions and, in the end, the Prime Minister will answer their questions.

Dacian Ciolos will go to the Parliament to present a report on the country’s economic situation following a request of PSD leader Liviu Dragnea. Government spokesman Liviu Iolu said a few days ago that PSD’s initiative was “a very good one” because it would give the Prime Minister the chance to present the country’s good economic data.

“It’s about an economic growth of 6% in the second quarter, revenues that are over the program, but Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos will tell the details to the Parliament,” Iolu said.

Romania’s economy increased by 6% in the second quarter of this year compared to the same period of 2015, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INS).
