Romanian named world’s second best handball player in 2014

Romanian handball player Cristina Neagu came second in a survey for “World’s Best Female Handball Player in 2014” made by Handball-Planet.com portal.

The 26-year old got 62 points, just three points shy of the first place, which was taken by Norwegian star Heidi Loke, for the third time in the last four years. The ranking was made based on votes from more than 100,000 handball fans as well as handball journalists worldwide.

Cristina Neagu was also voted best left back in the world in 2014.

Neagu is currently playing for ŽRK Budućnost Podgorica, in Montenegro. Her team played the final of the EHF Women's Champions League, in 2014, which it lost to Hungarian Gyor.

Neagu was also the best Romanian player in the European Championship in Hungary and Croatia, where Romania was only ninth.
