The Romanian Communication Ministry has suggested a VAT reduction from 24% to 9% for all TV program distributors. The Ministry has sent Romania's National Audiovisual Council CNA a draft law on this.

It has also proposed creating a fund where the TV distributors would contribute 5% of their annual revenues, reports local Hotnews.ro. The fund will encourage educational and cultural programs.

Both measures would apply to all TV program distributors, regardless of whether they are cable or satellite-based, said Communication Minister Sorin Grindeanu.
