Romania’s minimum wage will reach RON 1,200 (EUR 270) starting January 2016, said Labor Minister Rovana Plumb.

The President will have the highest salary, equal with the salary of the President of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, the Prime Minister, the President of the Chamber of Deputies and President of the Senate.

The Government is currently working on the unitary wage law in the public system. It is now creating various scenarios, which it will discuss with its social partners, said Plumb, cited by local Agerpres.

Two days ago, Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici said that a minister’s salary in Romania is low. Rovana Plumb replied that the new unitary pay law will try to motivate all the staff in the budgetary system.
