Insurance company CertAsig will next week launch the first insurance for drones in Romania.

James Grindley, the CEO CertAsig, will present during a media event the first drone officially registered in Romania, a YR-D0001 model. The company’s representatives will also talk about the risks and potential dangers of using drones.

In January last year, Romanian authorities decided that drones weighing less than 150 kilos should be registered and insured before being used in Romania.

According to official reasoning, until 2016, the European Union regulations cover drones bigger than 150 kilograms, while those below this weight remain subject to national regulations.
