Romanian ice cream producer buys Bucharest Old Town building for new gelateria

Romanian ice cream producer Betty Ice has bought a building in the Old Town of capital city Bucharest and plans to open an ice cream shop there, most likely in 2014, according to Romanian newspaper Ziarul Financiar.

The building covers 480 sqm on underground, ground floor and first floor, and the investment in buying the building and revamping it will be of EUR 1 million, according to Vasile Armenean, the owner of the company, quoted by Ziarul Financiar.

Bucharest's Old Town has undergone a revamping process, becoming one of the most vibrant parts of the city. Shops, cafes, restaurants have been opened, while streets have also been renovated by the Municipality. Several old buildings still remain to be renovated here and there.

Betty Ice ice cream producer was founded in 1994 and is headquartered in Suceava, in the Northern part of Romania. The company has a turnover of over EUR 19 million, according to the latest data available.
