Romanian chocolate producer Kandia has a new general manager

Ukrainian Roman Melesh has taken over as general manager of the Romanian chocolate producer Kandia Dulce, the largest local chocolate producer. He replaced Mihai Georgescu, who has managed the company since September 2013.

Melesh has 20 years of experience in the confectionery industry, as he has been working for Kraft Foods (now Mondelez) since 1995. He started as brand manager, then moved up to marketing director, and then led some of the group’s regional divisions. His latest position was that of vice president for coffee and beverages for Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Kandia Dulce is owned by Austrian group Julius Meinl. It produces brands such as Rom, Magura, Kandia, Primola, Laura, Sugus, and Silvana. It posted a turnover EUR 41.4 million last year and net losses of about EUR 1 million. The company had some 493 employees last year.
