Romania pays back half of EU funds received since accession

Romania received some EUR 24.6 billion from the EU budget since its accession in 2007, and had paid some EUR 10.2 billion, according to a report from the Finance Ministry, quoted by Agerpres.

Pre-accession funding was of EUR 2.6 billion, and post – accession, EUR 22 billion. Out of this amount, EUR 9 billion was structural and cohesion funding, EUR 5.6 billion was rural development and fishery, EUR 5.9 billion was funding for agriculture and farming, and EUR 1.3 billion were other post-accession funding.

Romania wants to attract some EUR 7.8 billion in EU funding in 2014.
