Romania launches first regional film fund this April

10 February 2015

Romania will launch its first regional film fund this April with an initial budget of at least USD 100,000, as part of a public-private partnership.

The Transilvania Film Fund TFF will be initially financed by the City of Cluj, which hosts the Transilvania Film Festival TIFF, reports Screendaily.com.

The initiative aims to attract filmmakers and make other cities in Transylvania region come onboard as financial partners in the future.

The fund will support local films and international co-productions, the development of local film projects, shorts and documentaries, a further training of film-makers through master classes and the creation of a film commission.

According to Cristian Hordila, TFF’s executive director, the fund would aim to become a member of the Cine-Regio pan-European network of regional film funds, reports Screendaily.com.
