Romania’s agricultural producers who have been affected by the drought will receive a minimis aid, which is aimed for small farmers and will be awarded this fall, and a state aid destined for companies, which will be paid next spring.

The decision was taken following a meeting of the Agriculture Ministry with the Pro Agro National Federation and other farmers’ associations, reports local Agerpres.

The drought has severely affected crops this year and has caused local producers losses of almost EUR 2 billion, representing sunk investments. In the most affected regions, the corn crops were ruined almost completely, whereas more than half of the sunflower crops were lost.
