Ready, steady, go! Run and bike at the Brasov Duathlon next week-end

12 September 2010

Brasov, the city at the foot of the Tampa Mountain will host the third edition of one of the most challenging, yet entertaining competitions in Romania, called “The Citadel of Brasov” Duathlon. The competition will start at the base of the Tampa Mountain, near “Bastionul Tesatorilor”, on Saturday, September 18.

Two more categories were added this year: Relay Profi and Relay Companies. The organizers are trying to encourage more amateurs to sign up for the race, so the first five winners of last year's Hobby category have to run in the Professional category this year.

The two challenge sections will be combined. The race will start with 5 km running, then continue with the mountaing bike race – the distance depends of the chosen category – and finish with a new running section for 5 km.

The participation fee is of 70 RON.

The organizers recommend several accomodation sites, but we'd also mention Darste Camping, if you want to enjoy the wilderness to the full.   Detailed information about the Duathlon, also in English, can be read here.
