French group Alcatel-Lucent brings expat back to run its operations in Romania

French telecommunications equipment producer Alcatel-Lucent appointed Raoul Ros as general manager of its Romanian subsidiary. Ros will take on starting July 1, replacing Romanian Eugen Serbanescu. He will also be Alcatel-Lucent’s commercial director for Romania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro and Serbia.

Raoul Ros returns to Romania after having coordinated Alcatel-Lucent Romania and the group’s operations in South-Eastern Europe from July 2009 until July 2012. After that he served as EMEA Channel Partner Organization Leader for the French group.

“I’m happy to return to Romania and this region. I will continue to consolidate Alcatel-Lucent’s strategic position in Romania and the region I coordinate and support the development of the R&D center in Romania,” said Ros.

Alcatel-Lucent has over 1,500 employees in Romania, most of which work in the R&D center in Timisoara, Western Romania, while the others work in a service center that supports some of the group’s biggest clients, such as British Telekom, Orange, Vodafone, and KPM.

Alcatel-Lucent Romania had a turnover of EUR 81 million and a net profit of EUR 4.5 million, in 2014, according to official data from the Finance Ministry.

Raoul Ros has been working for Alcatel-Lucent group since 1992. During this period he has held various sales and management positions in South America, Asia and Europe. He has bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Ecole Centrale de Marseille and an MBA degree from HEC Paris.

He’s a passionate traveler and photographer. Ros even published a photo album online illustrating the trips he took through Romania during the three years he lived in the country.
