PwC Romania names Mihaela Mitroi as tax and legal services boss, replacing Peter de Ruiter

Consultancy firm PwC has named Mihaela Mitroi as the new tax and legal services leader of PwC Romania as of July 1. She will also be responsible for tax and legal services in the region – Moldova, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Albania and Bosnia-Herzegovina – and takes over from Peter de Ruiter, who will stay on as tax partner of the company.

“Mihaela has built a strong reputation on the market and with our clients,” said Country Managing Partner for PwC Romania Vasile Iuga, who also thanked Peter de Ruiter “for building a landmark tax and legal team.”

Mihaela Mitroi joined PwC Romania in 1997 and became a partner in 2004. She has been involved in restructuring, privatization, tax compliance and tax optimization schemes, as well as in consultations with the Ministry of Finance on improving tax legislation. Mitroi also has experience advising both corporate and individual clients on tax matters. She is a member of CECCAR (Romanian Institute of Accountants), of the International Fiscal Association and is a Board Member of the Romanian Chamber of Tax Consultants.

Mihaela Mitroi commented that when she joined PwC, her profession was “almost unheard of in Romania,” as well as expressing enthusiasm for developing her department.

PwC is a network of firms in 158 countries with more than 180,000 staff that assurance, tax and advisory services.
