PayPoint sees 6% increase in number of transactions in Romania

Payment operator PayPoint recorded a total volume of 38.8 million transactions in the Romanian market in the first half of the 2017-2018 financial year, up 6.6% compared to the first six months of the previous year.

The company signed 14 new collaboration agreements during this period with partner suppliers in the utilities, transport, telecommunications and financial-banking segments. It increased its network by 469 stores reaching 11,771 payment points at the end of September, up 10.4% year-on-year.

In October, PayPoint completed the acquisition process of local competitor Payzone. Following this acquisition, PayPoint’s total network will exceed 21,000 payment points.

The company launched its payment services in Romania in August 2008.
