Romanian banks received EUR 525.5 million in new capital from their parent groups in the first four months of the year, compared to only EUR 12.94 million in the same period of 2014.

Volksbank Romania received the largest infusion of capital, of EUR 482 million, from Volksbank Austria, followed by OTP Bank, which got EUR 39 million, reports local Agerpres. Local lender Banca Transilvania completed this year the acquisition of a 100% stake in Volksbank.

In 2014, OTP bought Millenium Bank in Romania and Banca Popolare in Croatia.

Romania International Bank (RIB) and Libra Internet Bank also got smaller capital infusions totaling some EUR 4.3 million.
