Paintings by wife of Indian ambassador astound in art symbiosis in Bucharest

23 September 2010

An Indian painting exhibition titled“Between fact and Fiction,” signed by Adity Chakravarti, wife of the Indian Ambassador to Romania will be varnished Monday, at 18.30 hours at Muzeul Taranului Roman in Bucharest. The paintings can be found in Acvariu Hall until October 9.

The paintings bring out creatures with half – human, half – beast appearances, angels who walk on water, strange shapes that can be only found elsewhere in dreams. The colors of coral, amber, turquoise, emerald and the golden foils spread here and there, dress up the wood pieces on which the images are painted and highlight their dark margins. The motif of these paintings has its origins in the Madhubani culture and folklore.

Furthermore, the poem “Between Fact and Fiction” written by Adity Chakravarti will be transposed into dancing, therefore creating a perfect art symbiosis.

Living and traveling on many continents alongside her husband, Adity had the chance of meeting different cultures. The experience of more than 20 years as an artist has made this inter cultural fusion visible in her artwork. Thus, one can find Africa’s ebony and orange soil in her work, the magnificent crimson of the Canadian Maples in their autumn mood, the luminous blue of Krishna, India’s colored patron god and even Romanian archangels and heralds.
