02 March 2015

Largest Romanian cosmetics producer Farmec Cluj-Napoca, which owns the Gerovital H3 brand, increased its sales by 10% in 2014, to EUR 34 million. Over the last five years, Farmec’s turnover went up by 75%, as the company developed its portfolio and continued to expand into international markets. Farmec’s Gerovital cosmetics brand is one of the most successful Romanian brands abroad.

“We invested more than EUR 2.25 million in modernising our laboratories and upgrading our production lines, which helped us expand our portfolio and increase the efficiency of the production process,” said Mircea Turdean, Farmec’s general manager.

He added that Farmac maintained its leading position in the Romanian cosmetics market and continued to expand externally. Last year, Farmec inaugurated two shops under the Gerovital brand in the Greek cities of Thessaloniki and Katerini.

This year, Farmec aims to maintain the sales growth rate it had in recent years.

Farmec is the largest Romanian cosmetics producer. The company owns several brands that benefit from international recognition, such as Gerovital H3, Gerovital Plant, Aslavital and Farmec. The Gerovital anti-aging cosmetics, created by Romanian biologist and physician Ana Aslan, have become famous worldwide during the communist regime.

Farmec exports the Gerovital cosmetics in more than 30 countries. Some of its main markets are Japan, Hungary, Poland, Moldova, Iraq, Kuwait, Greece and Canada.
