Nicola Piovani brings 'La Vita e Bella' Oscar music to Bucharest

Nicola Piovani, the winner of an Oscar prize for the soundtrack of “La Vita e Bella” movie, will play in Bucharest on October 9 at Sala Radio starting 20,00 hours. The concert will take place within the closing festivity of the 6th edition of the “International Movie Festival RO – IFF” which is scheduled to close on 10th of October 2010. The film festival will take place at the Cinema Scala and Eforie and will last 10 days, being organized by Artis Foundation in association with Prom'Art Creative. The Romanian public will experience a mosaic show, which will include PIovani's most successful soundtracks, among which the Oscar bringer “La Vita e Bella”, accompanied by a projection of famous movie scenes. (Listen to the Buongiorno Principessa composition below) Nicola Piovani will perform alongside with four other musicians: Marina Cesari – saxophone, clarinet and flute, Pasquale Filasto – cello and guitar, Gianluca Palocca – contrabass and Christian Marini – drums and percussions. Tickets are available through the Eventim distribution channel, in Germanos, Orange, Vodafone stores and in the Humanitas libraries and also online at: www.eventim.ro and www.bilete.ro. All the funds gathered from tickets will be donated to the Oncology and Surgery medical departments. Nicola Piovani was born in Rome in 1946. He has an impressive artistic career throughout which he signed more than 130 soundtracks for movie productions and collaborated with many famous directors such as: John Irvin, Roberto Begnini, Frederico Fellini, Maroun Bagdadi, Bigas Luna and even Nae Caranfil for “Dolce Far Niente”, The beginning of his career was marked by movie soundtracks such as: „Il segreto NP” directed by Silvano Agosti in 1969 and „Nel nome del padre ”, directed by Marco Bellochio in 1970. His recent history is marked by EPFA – an amazing orchestral suite on seven different vocal tones and the granting of the “Knight” title, given by the French Minister of Culture in the “Order of Art and Letters”.
