New short film channel launches in Romania

Shorts TV, a television channel dedicated to short film, is launching in Romania. The channel will run across Romtelecom platforms, including IPTV, DTH, and cable, according to industry news service Broadband TV News.

“The concurrent launch of Shorts TV in Romania and across East Africa is incredibly exciting. We are bringing the channel into Africa with Wananchi as a key partner, just as they are additionally expanding into new markets,” said Shorts TV CEO Carter Pilcher.

Shorts TV garners content from the world's short film festivals, as well as from the bigger events, like the Oscars and the Cannes Film Festival.

The channel will be subtitled in Romanian locally, with content in original language. “In Romania, our movies are a wonderful fit for Romtelecom and its successful modern digital multi video services,” added Pilcher, quoted by Broadband TV News.

Shorts International operates in Europe, the US and Asia, bringing short films to audiences in cinemas, via cable TV and online. The company is headquartered in London, UK, with an office in Paris, France and is represented in the United States by Shorts Entertainment Networks, a wholly owned subsidiary, located in Santa Monica, California. It is majority owned by Shorts Entertainment Holdings with LGI Ventures B.V., the European arm of Liberty Global Ventures, as a significant minority shareholder.
