City tourism was the favorite option for Romanian employees who received holiday vouchers from their employers, representing 23 percent of the total demand in the last 12 months, according to a recent analysis carried out by Sodexo Solutii pentru Motivare. Prahova Valley and Brasov were chosen by 21 percent of the employees, followed by spa resorts - 19 percent, and seaside resorts - 17 percent. Other favorite destinations were Sibiu, the Maramures area and the Danube Delta.

Moreover, according to Sodexo’s research, over half of the employees who received holiday vouchers came from large companies, over 1,000 employees, while 21 percent work in companies with 500 - 999 employees. Small companies, with 10 - 49 employees, cover 10 percent of the total demand. Chemical and metallurgical industries, followed by distribution and services, were the main business areas in which employees received holiday vouchers.

For the amounts awarded as holiday vouchers, the employers do not pay social contributions. These vouchers are currently provided only to private companies.
