Ministry of Internal Affairs: Stamps and 17.7 million stickers for EP elections are ready

13 May 2014

All the stamps with the word “voted” as well as 17.7 million stickers needed for the European Parliament elections on May 25 been already manufactured, according to Monica Dajbog, the spokesman of Romania’s Ministry of Internal Affairs MAI.

Romania's budget for these elections is of some RON 150 million - the equivalent of EUR 33.3 million. It is yet uncertain how much of this budget goes to voting bulletins and stamps.

“The printing of the 20.4 million voting bulletins has begun, while all stamps with the word “voted” and the 17.7 million stickers were made. When the voting bulletins, the stickers, the stamps and the brochures with the European parliamentary election rules are made, they are taken by the prefectures in the country; 16 counties have already taken the necessary voting materials so far,” said Dajbog.

Until presidents of the polling stations will take the voting bulletins, the stamps and the stickers, they will remain under the watch of MAI structures, she added.

Over 30,000 MAI employees will ensure the security of the 18,532 polling stations set up at the national level.
