Metro line between Eroilor and Drumul Taberei in Bucharest, due by 2016

27 May 2015

The metro line connecting Eroilor and Drumul Taberei areas in Bucharest will be completed in the second part of 2016, said Catalin Homor, general manager of Bucharest’s metro operator Metrorex.

Astaldi and FCC are the main companies within the joint venture that will carry out the construction work, Homor added, cited by local Ziarul Financiar.

The contract, which the companies will sign these days, amounts to EUR 177 million (without VAT). If Metrorex doesn’t purchase new trains by then, it will use its existing fleet.

As for the metro line between Drumul Taberei and Pantelimon, the deadline to complete it is 2019, Homor said. The money for this project comes from non-reimbursable EU funds.

The metro line to the Otopeni area is due by 2020, the Metrorex general director added.
