The National Chamber Choir ‘Madrigal - Marin Constantin’ and the National Company Bucharest Airports recently inaugurated the "MADRIGAL 60" Music Lounge at the Henri Coandă International Airport.

The event took place on June 30 within the airport, in the connecting area between the Departures and Arrivals terminals, and was followed by a recital performed by the Madrigal Choir, conducted by Anna Ungureanu. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Romanian minister of culture Raluca Turcan.

"For 60 years, the Madrigal Choir has carried the values of Romanian identity to all corners of the world. By establishing the 'Madrigal 60' Music Lounge, a new moment of promotion and cultural diplomacy is created. The airport is the first place in Romania for passengers on international flights, and what could be more beautiful for those arriving in Romania than to be greeted and have the opportunity to meet the representatives of the most prestigious choir in Romania, which has been under the baton of Maestro Marin Constantin for 48 years, and now, under the baton of the talented conductor Anna Ungureanu. The 'Madrigal 60' Music Lounge is a promising cultural diplomacy initiative because it brings culture closer to people,” said Raluca Turcan, cited in the press release.

"We are very happy that we were able to create this space for the recreation and relaxation of the airport audience, and we thank our partners,” added Emil Pantelimon, manager of the National Chamber Choir ‘Madrigal - Marin Constantin.’

The ‘MADRIGAL 60’ Music Lounge is decorated in the style of a miniature concert hall, in a baroque style, where travelers can enjoy the atmosphere of the choir's concerts and relax while listening to the music performed by the renowned ensemble. The lounge will be open 24/7 to the public until the end of 2023, in the connection area between the Departures and Arrivals terminals.

"We are at a new event in the series CNAB Promotes Value, a program of the National Company Bucharest Airports that started many years ago and during which we have promoted numerous cultural programs,” said Valentin Iordache, spokesperson for the National Company Bucharest Airports.

“The lounge will operate 24/7, and we will have a displayed program so that those entering the lounge know exactly what they are listening to. With the Madrigal Choir, we have a partnership for the benefit of passengers passing through Henri Coandă Airport, who get a taste of culture upon arrival or departure from Otopeni, on their way home or to other destinations,” he added.

The event is part of the 'MADRIGAL 60' program, which marks 60 years of uninterrupted activity, musical excellence, and cultural diplomacy for the Madrigal Choir, which has become a symbol of national artistic constancy, as well as the cultural and image relevance of Romania in the world.
