Some 100 foreign pianists come to Romania for Jeunesses International Music Competition

Pianists from 34 countries will participate in the 2016 edition of Dinu Lipatti Jeunesses International Music Competition in Romania this spring. 

The event will take place between May 14 and May 21 in Bucharest and Sibiu. A total of 100 pianists from Romania, Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, China, South Korea, Turkey and Ukraine, among others, will compete for prizes worth EUR 10,000. 

The competition’s jury is international, made up of professors and performers.

The first edition of Dinu Lipatti Jeunesses International Music Competition took place in 1994. The event is named after Romanian pianist Dinu Lipatti.

The competition takes place every year and includes different disciplines: violin, piano, flute, clarinet, and composition. It aims to discover and promote young talents. Find more information here.

Besides the Bucharest International Jazz Competition, the agenda of the event also includes the Opening Concert – Bucharest | Sibiu, concerts of jazz, blues, pop and classical music, the Jeunesses International Piano Competition Dinu Lipatti, master-classes and workshops, the Caffe Festival, Festival’s corner and the EUROPAfest Gala.
