International sculpture artists join special event in Romanian mountain resort

05 August 2016

Busteni mountain resort hosts a special event this summer – the International Sculpture Symposium BISS. The event means ten international artists, 105 tons of marble, and 30 days of show.

During the event, which will take place between August 6 and September 2, the visitors will have the chance to see how artists from Argentina, Taiwan, Russia, China, Egypt, and France work their magic on the huge pieces of marble. The event will take place at the Cantacuzino Castle in Busteni, and on the city’s streets, reports local News.ro.

This first edition of BISS will focus on marble, but the next ones will be about andesite, granite, and metal. The 2016 special guests are Andre Naegelen (France), Emin Petrosyan (Armenia), Emiliano and Soledad Sacco (Argentina), Eugen Petri (Romania), Mikhail Sobolev (Russia), Samia Monsenf (Egypt), Choe Sodong (South Korea), Shlomo Katz (Israel), Wang Biao (Taiwan), and Lei and Yong Zhao (China).

BISS is part of Busteni the City of Arts project that aims to turn the mountain resort into a city in which culture represents the main attraction for tourists.
