German group buys Romanian product recycle & repair firm via international deal

A German company that offers recycling management solutions recently bought a British firm that refurbishes products at its headquarters in Bucharest, Romania, then re-sells them in the UK.

German Reverse Logistics Group (RLG) acquired Britcom, a British company with headquarters in Bucharest and Birmingham. From its Bucharest offices, Britcom offers recycle for reuse services. Over 150 Romanian staff are working on repairing, product testing, cleaning, repacking and storing products then sold by Britcom in the UK.

Under the new RLG management, Britcom will further expand its services, opening up new business opportunities for customers, including device reuse and disposal under the European Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment  directive.

Romanian subsidiary Britcom Direct had 160 employees end-2013, and a EUR 4.5 million turnover for the same year, according to the most recent available data. Its profit for 2013 was of only EUR 32,000. In 2008, the same company was making a EUR 3 million turnover, and had some 145 employees, Finance Ministry data show.
