French company Alstom has blocked the auction for modernizing 140 km of railway between Arad and Simeria in Western Romania, which is worth EUR 2 billion.

Alstom submitted a complaint and the tender can’t continue until the National Council for Solving Complaints offers an answer, reports local Digi24.

The national railway company CFR rejected Alstom’s bid saying that it had submitted it too late, according to an Alstom press release.

The state launched the auction procedure last year, but it suspended it due to errors in documentation.
