Former Romanian energy minister joins Deloitte as executive lead advisor

Former Romania minister of energy Razvan Nicolescu has joined Deloitte Romania as Executive Lead Advisor on Energy & Resources. From this position, he will focus on Romania as well as on Central Europe.

Razvan Nicolescu, 37, was minister of energy in Victor Ponta’s cabinet from March until December 2014. As a minister, he also contributed to the largest IPO on the Romanian market - that of the electricity distributor Electrica.

Before that, he was the Romanian Energy Attaché to the European Union (2006-2008), and he had a role in the successful negotiations on the European energy and climate change package.

He has also been chairman of the Administrative Board of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER), since 2009. His mandate ends in January 2016.

Nicolescu has also worked in the private sector. For more than five years, he was director of public affairs in the largest oil and gas producer in Southeast Europe OMV Petrom (2008 – February 2014).

He graduated the Energy Faculty of the Bucharest Polytechnic University and holds an MBA degree from the Solvay Business School in Brussels.

Deloitte is one of the big four audit, tax, and financial consulting companies.
