Energy companies invest over EUR 22 bln in Romania

10 June 2015

Foreign investors in the energy sector have invested over EUR 22 billion in Romania starting 2002, according to the Foreign Investors Council (FIC).

“The amount has contributed to the stability of a sector which was previously underfinanced,” reads the FIC press release.

The energy companies run by foreign investors contributed by almost EUR 3 billion to the state budget in 2014, from VAT collection, income tax, excise duties, royalties and employee payments.

Romania needs to create a transparent, predictable and stable market to attract more investors in the energy sector, according to the FIC.
