Energy authority: Households in Romania to pay with 2.5% more for gas, due to higher imports

26 June 2014

The population and small consumers will pay with 2.5 percent more for gas starting July 1, while the gas bill for companies will increase by 1.5 percent because of higher gas imports from Russia, according to Niculae Havrilet, the president of Romania’s energy authority ANRE, cited by local Mediafax.

However, the price increase for the population is below the level of 3 percent stipulated in the market liberalization program, he added.

The Romanian Government has committed to the International Monetary Fund to gradually quit regulated prices for electricity and gas.
