Electricity consumption goes down in Romania, while production increases

Romania used over 16.2 billion KWh of electricity in the first four months of the year, down 3.9% over the same period in 2014.

In the economy, the companies’ final consumption went down by 7%, whereas the household consumption and public lightning increased by 4.7%, respectively 24.4%.

Romania’s electricity resources reached 22.5 billion KWh in this period, up 5.6% year-on-year. The increase in electricity resources was due to the 1.1 billion KWh higher electricity production.

Production in hydro power plants increased by 1.4 billion KWh, whereas in thermal power plants, it went down by 1 billion KWh.
