Dutch-Romanian team wins men’s doubles final at Shenzhen Open

29 September 2014

Dutch tennis player Jean-Julien Rojer and Romanian Horia Tecau won their sixth title of the season on Sunday, September 28, as they defeated Australians Sam Groth and Chris Guccione 6-4, 7-6(4) in the Shenzhen Open final, organized in China. The Dutch/Romanian duo claimed victory in 87 minutes.

"It was an exciting final," said Tecau, in a statement posted on ATP world Tour’s website. "We were playing against two guys that serve big. We had to take care of our own serves and hopefully convert a few of the chances that might get. We did that in the first set and were up a break in the second. We kind of let them back into the match, so we're happy we managed to win the second set tie-break. A super tie-break would have been dangerous."

Since joining forces at the beginning of the season, Rojer and Tecau have compiled a 38-17 team record, reaching seven ATP World Tour finals.

Rojer, 33, won his 15th ATP World Tour crown, while the 29-year-old Tecau won his 22nd title.
