Dacia sales grow 12% worldwide, Romanian market share exceeds 30%

Dacia car sales grew by 12 percent to 349,000 units in 2010 on a worldwide level, according to the company. The car maker sold 154.600 Sandero cars, 127.200 Dacia Logan cars and 67.000 Dacia Duster units.

Romania brought the car maker a 31.7 percent market share, with 36.730 units sold locally. The company had planned to achieve a 30 percent market share in the country. Of the units sold, more than 24,000 were sold through the Clunkers governmental program. More than 4,800 Dacia Duster cars were sold in Romania last year, higher than the level of sales for Sandero, which sold only in 3,047 units.

Romania came forth among Dacia's markets, after France – with 110,000 cars sold and a 4 percent market share, Germany – with 40,500 cars and Italy, with some 22,000 sold cars.  Dacia is owned by French Renault, which operates a factory in Romania, at Mioveni.
