Slovenian pharmaceutical producer Krka has obtained one of the highest sales increases in Romania in the first six months of the year, compared to other markets where the group operates. The company posted EUR 19.9 million, up 30 percent compared to the same period of last year.

Romania's trade deficit went up to EUR 4.7 billion at the end of June, with EUR 25.4 million above the level in the first six months of 2009. Exports grew by 25.8 percent, while imports, by 19.3 percent, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).

Insurance company Groupama Asigurari saw its gross subscribed premiums down 9 percent in the first six months of the year, to EUR 96 million, the company has announced.

Insurance company Allianz-Ţiriac posted an operational profit of EUR 2 million in the first six months of the year, similarly to the first six months of last year. The insurer's gross subscribed premiums have decreased by 20 percent on general insurances, to EUR 119 million. Life insurance subscribed premiums have stagnated to EUR 12 million.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has offered a USD 180 million syndicated refinancing package to aluminium producer Alro. The EBRD loan will refinance Alro’s existing debt, consolidating and restructuring it on a longer term basis

The Anonimul Film Festival starts this Monday, August 9 in Sfantu Gheorghe, in the Danube Delta

Car traffic will be restricted to three lanes on the Constantin Prezan boulevard, between Charles de Gaulle Square and Arcul de Triumf starting Monday, August 9, until mid-September. Road repairing will restrict traffic to three lanes- two will be available for traffic from Charles de Gaulle to Arcul de Triumf and only one lane from Arcul de Triumf to Charles de Gaulle.

The power outages in Mamaia and 2 Mai seaside resorts this week-end were caused by the over consumption of energy in the resorts, according to supplier Enel Distributie Dobrogea. Such events happened during the week as well, when energy consumption went up compared to the approved consumption – sometimes double this threshold, according to Enel.

Romanian-born pianist Lucian Ban will play in the 'Enescu Re-Imagined” concert at the Romanian Atheneum this fall, along with John Hebert and other jazz musicians in New York. The concert will take place on September 22nd.

The Rasnov citadel has been re-opened after a year of renovation works, although the revamping was not entirely finalized. Tracks have been secured within the citadel, which will be opened for public for free during August. During September, the price of an entry ticket will be of RON 10 for adults and RON 5 for kids.
