Credit Agricole Bank Romania appoints new CEO

16 May 2016

Luc Beiso is the new CEO of Credit Agricole Bank Romania, the local subsidiary of international group Credit Agricole. He replaces Pierre Martin who will continue to be the vice-president of the lender’s Board of Directors.

Besio, 53, has a 28-year experience in the banking industry. During this period, he has held several management positions both in France and in the group’s international subsidiaries. Before joining the Romanian team, he was the CEO of Credit Agricole Albania Bank.

“Mr. Beiso has a significant experience in the banking industry and a strong strategic orientation, two components that are extremely valuable in a competitive market such as Romania,” said François Pinchon, chairman of Credit Agricole Bank Romania’s Board of Directors.

Credit Agricole Group is one of the largest banking groups in Europe. It has some 140,000 employees and 31,500 executives in local and regional banks and serves 50 million customers, 8.2 million cooperative shareholders, and 1.1 million individual shareholders.

Its Romanian subsidiary is, however, among the smaller local banks. It ranked 25th at the end of last year, with a market share of 0.34%, according to data released by local Profit.ro.
