Comedy with Catherine Deneuve, Gérard Depardieu to open TIFF in Romania this year

Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF), which will take place from June 3 to 12 in Cluj-Napoca, will open with the screening of “Potiche”, a comedy by Francois Ozon, one the most acclaimed French filmmakers (watch trailer below).

“Potiche” brings together big names in the French cinema: Catherine Deneuve, honored with Lifetime Achievement Award at TIFF 2008, Gérard Depardieu and Fabrice Luchin.

This year, the Romanian festival is divided into several sections such as: shadows, focus, on HBO, wasted youth (films about teen life), back to TIFF, among others.

The Romanian Film Days in TIFF also promises to be filled with local productions and special events, while Education Media and Film Program – EducaTIFF, launched in 2009 , will also continue this year.

TIFF has been recently accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations, which guarantees the effective promotion among professionals around the world. Over 300 films entered the competition at the Transylvania International Film Festival in Cluj-Napoca this year.

TIFF was founded in 2002 and is the first international film festival in Romania. The 10th edition of TIFF will take place from June 3 to 12, 2011 in Cluj-Napoca. In Sibiu, TIFF will be held between June 15 and 19, 2011.
