Bucharest Stock Exchange GM: Privatizations must continue

17 June 2015

Romania should continue its privatization process, as this is the most important factor in developing its capital market and its economy, said Ludwik Sobolewski, general manager of the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

The local capital market is increasingly visible on the international markets, and it has one of the most dynamic developments, he added. Romania is now very close to the family of the emerging markets, according to the BVB CEO.

“We can even say that it is at the same level as other neighboring markets,” Sobolewski said, cited by local Agerpres. “We need to be proactive, to attract new clients and convince them that the products in the capital market are good.”

Romania failed to make it to MSCI’s review list for a potential reclassification to Emerging Markets, this year. MSCI is one of the biggest index providers in the world.
