Bucharest City Hall spends EUR 27 mln on green areas

23 February 2015

Three Romanian companies will receive EUR 27 million to take care of Bucharest's public gardens and green spaces in the next four years.

Bucharest City Hall concluded three framework agreements at the end of 2014 with Garden Center Grup, Romprest Service and Cris Garden. The municipality's Lakes, Parks and Recreation Administration (ALPAB) awarded the contracts via open tenders.

The three companies will offer different services for the city’s green areas for a total of some RON 120 million (EUR 27 million), according to the public auction site, reports local Hotnews.ro. The contracts are for a period of four years.

The first agreement, signed with Garden Center Grup, has a maximum value of RON 33 million (EUR 7.4 million), VAT included. Under this agreement, the company will provide flowers, shrubs, lawns and other materials needed for green areas in the city.

The authorities awarded the second contract to Romprest Service, which will provide maintenance services for the green spaces administered by ALPAB. The contract has a value of RON 45 million (some EUR 10 million).

The third framework agreement has a value of some RON 43 million (EUR 9.6 million) and was awarded to Cris Garden via open tender. Under this contract, the company will conduct repair, expansion and maintenance work on the irrigation systems managed by ALPAB.

Some of the green areas administered by Bucharest City Hall are Herastrau, Cismigiu, Carol and Circului parks, Miorita Fountain, Floreasca, Tineretului, Bordei, Izvor Unirii areas, as well as the green spaces on Nicolae Balcescu, Magheru and Lascar Catargiu boulevards and Universitate Square.

The total expenses for green areas in Bucharest are much higher, as each district administration closes its own contracts for such services.
