Biking uphill to the highest peak in Bucegi mountains

13 September 2010

Have you ever thought about reaching the Omu peak in the Bucegi mountains by bike? You'll have a chance to do so next Saturday, September 18, when TeamExpert organizes yet another challenge for those in love with mountain biking, nature, adrenaline, racing and a different type of socializing.

This competition is different from others in the area because it offers not the usual downhill, but a unique uphill race. Depending of the chosen category, the start of the race will be at 10,00 hours in front of Hotel Paltinis in Sinaia, and at 12,00 hours at Cota 1,200.

The four categories in the race are:

Easy Ride- for 10 km and an altitude difference of 330 m, from Cota 1200 to Babele Hut;

Hobby Ride - for 13 km and an altitude difference of 1.340 m, from Sinaia Town to Furnica Peak;

Profi Ride - for 23 km and an altitude difference of 1.670 m, from Sinaia Town to Babele Hut;

Elite Ride - for 29 km and an altitude difference of 2.125 m, from Sinaia Town to Omu Peak (with an altitude of 2.507 meters).

The race trail will be covered by six arbitration points and two hydration points.  The participation fee is of 70 RON.  If you want to join this challenge, you still have time to subscribe on Friday, September 17, until 21,00 hours, directly in Sinaia, at Hotel Paltinis, or on Saturday morning starting 08,00 hours. Check out the organizers' website here.

TeamExpert also organizes the mountain bike race in the Natural Park Comana, about 40 kilometres away from the capital city, on October 23. Read more about this race here.
