Belgian Dardenne brothers to attend Bucharest screening of their latest film 'The Kid with a Bike'
Belgian film directors Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne will attend the special pre-screening of their most recent film, ' Le Gamin au Vélo' (The Kid with a Bike) on March 5, at the Studio cinema in Bucharest. The film will premiere in Romanian cinemas on March 9. The event is organized by the Wallonie – Brussels delegation in Bucharest, now in its 10th year.
The Dardenne brothers have influenced recent Romanian cinema, collaborating with award-winning Romanian directors Corneliu Porumboiu and Cristian Mungiu. Les Films Du Fleuve, the Dardenne brothers' movie production company, is co-producing Mungiu's latest feature-length movie this year.
The Belgian film making duo began making narrative and documentary films in the 70s. They received international attention in the 90s and their movie 'Rosetta' won the Palme D'Or in Cannes in 1999.
Their latest film The Kid with a Bike premiered worldwide at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival- watch trailer below.
The Bucharest event is organized in partnership with Independence Film, TV5 Monde and the Film Makers' Union in Romania.
