French retailer Auchan will open on Wednesday, December 10, a new hypermarket in Drumul Taberei neighborhood, the 7th in Bucharest and the 32nd in Romania, following a EUR 70 million investment, according to a company announcement, cited by local Dailybusiness.ro.

Besides the hypermarket, the new center will include a shopping gallery and an office area for Auchan and Immochan, the real estate subsidiary of the French group Auchan.

Auchan has 32 stores in 18 cities across Romania and is currently building a shopping center in Brasov. The retailer has more than 11,000 employees. In the first half of the year, Auchan completed remodeling the 20 Real hypermarkets purchased from the German group Metro in 2012 after a EUR 40 million investment.
