Storm and heat alerts in Romania this weekend

The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) has issued several alerts for this weekend, including two orange alerts of storm for several counties.

The first orange alert of heavy rain targets Arad, Timis, Hunedoara, Caras-Severin, Gorj, Mehedinti, and Dolj counties, and is valid between July 15, 18:00 and July 16, 10:00. In this period, the waterfall is expected to reach 60 liters per sqm, and even 80-90 liters per sqm in some areas.

The second orange alert of storm is valid between July 16, 15:00 and July 17, 06:00, and targets Satu Mare, Bihor, Salaj, Cluj, Hunedoara, Alba, Sibiu, Gorj, and Valcea counties, as part of Arad county. The quantities of water are expected to reach 60-70 liters per sqm in these areas.

Moreover, ANM also issued two yellow warnings of heavy rain for this weekend. The first one, which is valid until July 16, 10:00, targets Satu Mare, Maramures, Bihor, Salaj, Cluj, Bistrita Nasaud, Suceava, Alba, Mures, Sibiu, Brasov, Valcea, Olt, and Arges counties. The second one will come into force on July 16, 10:00 and will end the next day at 10:00, covering Arad, Timis, Caras-Severin, Mehedinti, Dolj, Olt, Arges, Dambovita, Prahova, Buzau, Vrancea, Covasna, Brasov, Bacau, Neamt, Hunedoara, Mures, Bistrita Nasaud, Suceava and Maramures.

Meanwhile, Bucharest, part of Vrancea, Buzau and Prahova counties, as well as Galati, Braila, Ilfov, Ialomita, Calarasi, Giurgiu, Teleorman, Tulcea, and Constanta counties will be under a yellow alert of heat on July 15 and July 16. The maximum temperatures are expected to go up to 35-36 degrees Celsius in these areas, and even 37 degrees Celsius in some areas.
