Number of airport passengers up 60% y/y in Romania in Q1

Air passenger transport increased, in the first quarter of this year, by 60% compared to the same period in 2022, from 3,085,700 passengers to 4,937,100 passengers, according to the statistics office INS, Bursa.ro reported.

The largest share in terms of passenger transport was recorded at Henri Coandă-Bucharest airport: 1,576,700 passengers departing and 1,510,500 arriving.

In international passenger transport, the first ten airports of origin were London Luton (217,341 passengers), Milan-Bergamo (121,735 passengers), Tel Aviv (88,594 passengers), Brussels Charleroi (73,711 passengers), Istanbul International (73,637 passengers), Madrid-Barajas (69,469 passengers), Vienna (63,730 passengers), Munich (62,995 passengers), London-Stansted (58,946 passengers), Rome Ciampino (55,734 passengers).

In terms of destination, most passengers on regular flights boarded for London-Luton (229,941 passengers), Milan-Bergamo (128,481 passengers), Tel Aviv (91,015 passengers), Brussels-Charleroi (80,131 passengers), Madrid-Barajas (71,865 passengers), Munich (70,847 passengers), Vienna (68,864 passengers), Istanbul International (65,708 passengers), London-Stansted (62,792 passengers), Rome-Ciampino (56,116 passengers).
