AirConnect starts operating flights from Timisoara to Romanian seaside

22 June 2023

Airline company AirConnect has started operating summer flights to the Romanian seaside, connecting Romania’s westernmost city of Timisoara to the Constanta Airport. Flights are available every Thursday and Sunday, from June 22 to September 17.

Flight tickets can already be purchased on the airline's website, through the application available on the Apple Store and Google Play Store, or through travel agencies.

Flights from Timisoara to Constanta take less than 2 hours. By comparison, a train ride between the two cities takes roughly 13 hours.

"Today, over 3 months since we started operating regular flights, we have managed to expand our fleet to 2 dedicated aircraft for the Romanian bases, allowing us to guarantee a service that our passengers can rely on with confidence. We are delighted to offer the people of Timisoara a fast, comfortable, and safe alternative to reach the Romanian coast. We know how challenging it is to travel by car or train from Timisoara to the seaside, and AirConnect flights to Constanta will transport passengers to their destination in less than 2 hours, allowing them to start their vacation relaxed," said Tudor Constantinescu, CEO of AirConnect, cited by News.ro.

The flights between Timisoara and Constanta have been resumed after a five-year break.

"We are pleased with AirConnect's decision to operate flights on the Timisoara-Constanta route, which provides a connection between the Banat region and the Romanian seaside. It has been a five-year hiatus since the period of 2017-2018 when there was an air connection between our airport and the Black Sea. I am very optimistic about the success of this route, both as a holiday destination for people from Timisoara, Caras-Severin, Hunedoara, or Arad and in the opposite direction, for residents of Constanta who may be attracted by the cultural program offered by Timisoara this year, as it is the European Capital of Culture," said Daniel Stamatovici, CEO of Timisoara International Airport Traian Vuia.
