Signal Iduna Romania, the health insurance segment leader in the Romanian insurance market, announces that the volume of gross written premiums in the first half of the year (H1) rose by 44% year on year to RON 57.4 million (EUR 11.9 mln).

The number of insured persons reported at the end of June amounted to over 180,000 people, 64% more than a year earlier.

Some 88% of the policies come from corporate contracts, the rest coming from the retail segment.

The results achieved in the first half of this year are also based on solid partnerships with brokers, the company said.

In the context of the current situation generated by the coronavirus pandemic, Signal Iduna's customers have had the opportunity to benefit from telemedicine consultations since the beginning of April.

The company has also simplified the compensation process for policyholders, requiring a smaller number of documents.

Signal Iduna Romania's insurance contracts provide its customers with services in over 900 partner clinics and reimbursement of services in any clinic in Romania.
