Young Romanians dream of IT, law, management jobs

11 June 2015

Most of Romania’s young students would like to work in the IT sector, or be lawyers or business managers, a recent study conducted by D&D Research, eJobs and Samsung reveals. However, there is an imbalance between the jobs they want and the opportunities on the local labor market.

Over 14% of Romania’s young students would like to be software engineers, 13.7% would like to work as lawyers, 10.7%- computer system engineers, 10% - actors, 9.2% - business managers, 8.5% - surgeons, 6.2% - accountants, 5.9% - architects, 5.2% - cardiologists and 5.2% - dentists.

In IQ terms, the Northern region of Moldova region ranks first. Young students in the Muntenia region are most dynamic while those in Transylvania are most flexible, reports local Hotnews.ro.

When it comes to the side of the country they live in, young students living in the East choose more “pragmatic” jobs (programmer, lawyer, manager) while those in the West choose humanistic professions.

Boys have a higher numerical and figural IQ, being more inclined towards jobs such as programmer, financial analyst or architect. On the other hand, girls have a higher verbal intelligence which makes them more suitable for jobs such as expert in communication, psychotherapist or lawyer.

Over a third  of young Romanians have an entrepreneurial spirit, 17.2% have an investigative profile and 15% have a high social profile.

The study was conducted on over 8,000 young students aged between 16 and 18.
