Young Romanian develops public transport app for Cluj - Napoca

06 May 2015

A young Romanian has  worked for 12 months on a mobile app for public transport in the city of Cluj- Napoca.

Via this app made by Cosmin Mihu, commuters can buy tickets by phone, find a bus that links two destinations, or consult the schedule and maps. The app already has 4,000 active users, reports local Digi24. The app is called CTP Cluj Napoca (RATUC) and is available for Android devices.

The developer wants to add one more function to the app, one that allows the user to track the means of transportation in real time. He says however that the app will remain free and will soon be available for the iOS system also.

Local authorities will not use this app however, as they will introduce a new ticketing system this summer. The new system required an investment of EUR 6 million, and the money came from EU funds. Each station will have a ticket vending machine that will also display the routes.

The young Romanian programmer has also created a public transport app for the city of Medias.
