World Press Photo exhibition opens in Bucharest next week

World Press Photo, the international photo journalism exhibition, will open in Bucharest on May 10, at Sala Dalles. It will stay open until May 28.

The Bucharest exhibition will showcase a selection of photos from the yearly World Press Photo exhibition, which goes on display in over 100 locations in 45 countries. It includes winning photos of the World Press Photo competition, the yearly photo contest rewarding photographers for the best single exposure pictures contributing to the past year of visual journalism. Some 3.5 million people visit the exhibition at each edition.

This year, Romanian photographer Vadim Ghirda was one of the winners of the 2017 World Press Photo contest. His photo, named Migrant Crossing, received the second prize in the Contemporary Issues category.

The exhibition is open Monday to Thursday from 11:00 to 21:00, Fridays from 11:00 to 22:00, and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 22:00.
