World Health Organization: Romanians do not exercise enough

12 March 2015

Romanians do not exercise enough and eating healthy is useless if they don’t exercise at least 150 minutes a week, said Victor Olsavszky, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Romania, cited by local Mediafax.

Romania ranks average among EU countries for the prevalence of obesity but is witnessing a growing tendency towards obesity, according to Olsavszky.

“It’s the moment when we can intervene. Romanians don’t exercise in comparison to other EU nationals,” he said.

It is useless to grow life expectancy if people spend the last years in a wheelchair or paralyzed, the WHO head added.
